SUSTAINABLE CURRICULUM TO CONQUER FEAR OF FAILURES IN ACADEMIC

Hi readers!

Today's topic is quite an educational topic to be discussed: sustainable curriculum to conquer the fear of failures n academic.

Before that, may I know, do you feel pressure during studying? Have you ever thought about the failures in academic? Do you study to impress society in general?

If you answered all "YES", it indicates that you have the fear of failures in academic. I would love to talk about this topic in different as the purpose of studying should not be about getting a perfect score, is not about flying colours in the examination, is not about who gets the number one and who gets the last number, it is not a race to impress people; IT IS A PROCESS OF UNDERSTANDING THE KNOWLEDGE.

It is undeniable that our students' generation had fears that had been practised by the past generation. Learning for students is not as enjoyable as someone ever thought it would be. Can you imagine, they come to school every day with those fears of failure, humiliation and fear of disapproval by the community itself. They learn to make themselves look better in the eyes of the community so that they can be accepted for who they are. Education is important, however, it should be something that people enjoy doing, not something that people fear off. The purpose of education is to produce a well-balanced person who encompasses intellectuality, physical, emotional, as well as spiritual. By having those fears of failure, the education might produce great intellectual students but with mental instability. They are having a lot of mental health issues just because they want to succeed in academics until forgetting their mental health.

Sustainable development Goals can help overcome this fear by providing the students with better education goals and aims that focus on improving the education sector by producing students that are healthy in the aspect of physical health, mental health and spiritual health. School especially should be a place where students learn conducive without any worries of failing academically. Failing is a step for one to succeed in future. Being competitive in exams to see who’s getting number 1 in class is the main target of producing a person that will succeed in academics. They might just learn to excel in exams but then forget what they learn as soon as the exams ended. SDG aims to serve the best quality of education to all which promotes the lifelong learning process.

One way to help students conquer the fear of failures in academics is by setting small goals to larger goals. Teachers should promote the “start small, dream big, archive bigger” mindset to their students in their classroom setting. Always aim to achieve something small, little by little, so that the students have the ability to develop and improve themselves towards better and bigger.
